Your Pay
Normally paid weekly or monthly
Paid in cash or more usually into a bank account
Sometimes an employer may ask you to work a 'week in hand' - this means that you will have to work 2 weeks before being paid. After that, you are then paid weekly
If you are aged 16 years or over and you have left compulsory education, you are entitled to be paid a National Minimum Wage. (Apprenticeships are excluded from the Minimum Wage)
You should get a pay slip showing 'gross' and 'net' pay (net pay is your take home pay)
You may have deductions from your gross pay, for Tax and National Insurance (these pay towards benefits, pensions etc)
