You might think that getting paid cash-in-hand seems like a good idea, because you get more in your pay packet.

It is illegal if your employer is not paying tax or National Insurance on your behalf unless you are registered as self-employed and paying it yourself.
You will lose your right to benefits like Jobseekers Allowance and you may lose other employment rights like sick pay.
You could end up having to pay back the unpaid tax and National Insurance Contributions (NICs).
