Your Pay
  • Normally paid weekly or monthly

  • Paid in cash or more usually into a bank account

  • Sometimes an employer may ask you to work  a 'week in hand' - this means that you will have to work 2 weeks before being paid. After that, you are then paid weekly

  • If you are aged 16 years or over and you have left compulsory education, you are entitled to be paid a National Minimum Wage. (Apprenticeships are excluded from the Minimum Wage)

  • You should get a pay slip showing 'gross' and 'net' pay (net pay is your take home pay)
