Check you have got the right date and time. Write it down if this information is given over the phone.
Make sure you have got the address of where the interview will be held. If you are not sure how to get there – you could ask the employer, check out on an A-Z map, or use multi-map on the internet if you have access. You may need to check out bus or train times as well. Have the name of the person to ask for when you arrive.
Sort out some suitable clothes to wear for the interview. These do not have to be new, but should be clean and tidy and show that you have made a real effort.
Get any information together that you need to take to the interview – exam certificates, record of achievement etc.
Find out as much as you can about the company and the job you are applying for. The employer may have a website which has information about what they do. You may have received information about the company with the application pack or with your interview letter.
From time to time, it is necessary for an employer running a small business or a business from home, to interview at their home address either in or out of normal working hours. We advise you always to go to the interview with another person, preferably a parent or carer.
