Having the chance to get involved in a
project to potentially help other young people make a decision
about their career has been exciting and something I was keen to
get involved in from the start.
I was given the opportunity to work in a way
which was totally different from my everyday job role and required
me to take on extra responsibilities that I wouldn’t usually get
chance to do. I never imagined I would ever call myself a project
manager!
The main reason I chose to take part and help
manage the project was for personal development through gaining
extra skills and experiences.
I also wanted to raise awareness about
apprenticeships and thought that by talking about my own experience
as an apprentice I could inspire other young people to take on an
apprenticeship.
As well as managing the running of the
project, myself and Anna got involved in planning, thinking up
ideas, considering practicalities, decision making, chairing
meetings, team working and so on.
I feel these experiences will be a real
benefit for the future and apart from benefiting me at work it has
helped me to build new friendships in the
company.
Thanks to Sheron and Malcolm for coming up
with the idea and giving us the opportunity to make it our
own.
